Admonition of Ramadan: On Achieving Allah’s Love

All praises be to Allah, peace and prayer of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.

Brother, think about how warm and safe your mother’s arms when you were little. When you were in your beloved mother’s arms, peace, serenity, and happiness prevailed on you. Wasn’t it?

Have you ever feel peace, warmth, and happiness more than the peace you’ve enjoyed in your mother’s arms and caresses?,

Could you forget her love and warm hug?

Now once again think and imagine yourself in her arms. She stroke your hair gently, kissed your head and hugged your tiny body warmly.

How beautiful it was, and you might feel inseparable from this lovely fantasy.

Again, think about what your mother did when you had fever, or sick? She waited for you patiently, and she might unconsciously shed some tears due to her anxiousness about your health.

Could you forget these wonderful times with your beloved mother?
Could your heart detain your longing for her?

Haven’t you ever ask, why did your mother do all those to you?

The answer is singular : Love.

Right, it was, and is, her love that underlie her deeds to you. A sincere love, for nothing in return.  Her only hope was for you to grow into a faithful, righteous man, thus you may be useful for your religion, your country, and your parents.

Has your mother ever ask you now for returns or wages for all her efforts in nurturing and raising you?

The answer must be No, never, and she wouldn’t do it.

Brother! Now imagine her carried and cradled your petite body. Was it possible that your beloved mother got a heart to drop you, or even to dump you into the fire?

The answer of course No; even if she had to choose, I am sure your mother would rather jumping into the fire as long as you were safe, than throwing you into it whilst she herself was safe. Isn’t it?

It is truly a picture of a loving and caring mother to her son.

One day, a group of prisoner of war was brought to the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him-. All of sudden there was a women from among the prisoners  who found a little child. She embraced the child spontaneously and warmly, and she nursed him immediately. Seeing the sight, the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- asked his companions, “Is it possible that this woman have a heart to throw her son into the fire?”. The companions responded spontaneously, “As long as she is able not to do it, it is impossible for her to do such.” Next, the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said,

“Verily, Allah loves His slaves more than the love of this woman to her son.” (Muttafaqun ‘alaih)

Know, Brother! The love you’ve got from your mother is just a bit or a drop of love from the sea of love of Allah, that He sent down to this earth.

“Indeed, when Allah created the heavens and the earth, He created one hundred loves (graces). Each grace was a large as the heaven and the earth. Next, He sent down one love (grace) to the earth. By this one love, a mother loves her children, beasts and birds love their kinds. And when the Hour comes, Allah will fulfill the ninety nine graces left in His side with the one He sent down to the earth.” (Muttafaqun ‘alaih)

In another narration, the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said:

“Allah the Almighty has one hundred loves (graces). And indeed, Allah has divided one of His love to all dwellers of the earth, and it has fulfilled them until they passed away. Allah still save ninety nine graces to His lovers (His righteous slaves). And later on the Hereafter Allah will take back the one love He sent down to be added to the ninety nine graces He has in His side, to be given to His lovers (the righteous men).” (Narrated by Ahmad).

If a drop of the love and grace that He has sent down to the earth, of which you got from your mother, and it feels so lovely and felicitate, then how lovely and happy you would be, if you could get a whole grace?

And how lovely and happy you would be, if you could get one hundred graces of Allah later on the Hereafter?

Brother, are you curious now, and you want to know who deserve to get one hundred graces and loves of Allah?

The answer lies in this verse of Allah the Exalted:

“As for My Mercy, it encompasses everything. I will show Mercy to those who abstain from evil, pay Zakat, and have faith in Our Signs.”(Qs. Al A’araf/The Height: 156)

Don’t you feel challenged to be one of them, and dream to achieve it?

Now it’s your time to achieve your dream. The holy month of Ramadan is your chance to begin realizing your big dream.

“When Ramadan comes, the doors of graces are opened.” (Narrated by Muslim)

Now it’s your chance to enter the doors of graces that Allah has opened widely for you.

Will you let this golden chance to slip away from your life?

Will you let the doors of Allah’s graces -which are widely opened for you now- to be closed while you got nothing as your supply to enter it?

Brother ! Roll up your sleeves, tighten your belt, and step forward to the door of Allah’s graces that has been opened for you.

If you ask: What should I prepare to be able to reach that door of Allah’s graces?

Again, the answer is, :

“As for My Mercy, it encompasses everything. I will show Mercy to those who abstain from evil, pay Zakat, and have faith in Our Signs.” (Qs. Al A’araf/The Height: 156)

Be pious by performing all commands and abandoning all prohibitions in religion. Pay your zakat obligation and strengthen your faith to Allah the Exalted. By these things, I believe on this holy month, you’ll successfully enter the door of Allah’s grace.

Good luck in achieving Allah’s graces, may Allah the Exalted unite us in it. Amin.

Peace and prayer of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions. Amin.
