An invocation in asking for goodness in this world and the hereafter
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
“O our Lord, give us in this world that which is good and in the hereafter that which is good and save us from the torment of the fire!” (Al-Baqarah: 201)
An invocation for admiring the Power of Allah
رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
“O our Lord, You have not created all this without purpose, glory to You, give us salvation from the torment of the fire.” (Ali Imran: 191)
An invocation for the acceptance of the deeds
رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
“O our Lord, accept this service from us, verily You are the All-Hearer and the All-Knower.” (Al-Baqarah: 127)
An invocation of fearing the torment of the fire
رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا
“Our Lord, avert from us the torment of hell. Verily, its torment is ever a permanent punishment.” (Al-Furqan: 65)
An invocation for a good family
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
“Our Lord, bestow on us from our wives and our offspring the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the people who have taqwa.” (Al-Furqan: 74)
An invocation for steadfastness in prayer
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
“O my Lord, make me one who performs shalah, and also from my offspring. O our Lord, accept my invocation.” (Ibrahim: 40)
An invocation for asking forgiveness for parent
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ
“O our Lord, forgive me and my parent, and all the believers on the day where the reckoning will be established.” (Ibrahim: 41)
An invocation for firmness in Islam
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
“Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our transgressions (in keeping our duties to You), establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk.” (Ali Imran: 147)
Asking forgiveness for those who have passed away
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ
“Our Lord, forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in faith, and put not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord, You are indeed full of kindness, the Most Merciful.” (Al-Hasyr: 10)
Seeking refuge from the devils
رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَنْ يَحْضُرُون
“My Lord, I seek refuge with You from the whisperings of the devils. And I seek refuge with You my Lord, lest they should come near me.” (Al-Mu’minun: 97-98)
An invocation for a pious son
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ
“O my Lord, grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of invocation.” (Ali Imran: 38)
An invocation for not going astray
رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
“O our Lord, let not our hearts deviate from the truth after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.” (Ali Imran: 8)
An invocation to have ability for patience and steadfastness
رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ
“O our Lord, pour out on us patience and cause us to die as Muslims.” (Al-A’raf: 126)
An invocation for knowledge
رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا
“My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” (Thaha: 114)
An invocation for contentment and easiness every matter
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي
“O my Lord, open for me my chest (grant me contentment) and ease my task for me.” (Thaha: 25-26)
An invocation for a good place
رَبِّ أَنْزِلْنِي مُنْزَلًا مُبَارَكًا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنْزِلِينَ
“O my Lord, cause me to land at a blessed landing-place, for You are the Best of those who bring to land.” (Al-Mukminun: 29)
An invocation for being with the righteous people
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
“My Lord, bestow hikmah on me and join me with the righteous.” (Asy-Syu’ara: 83)
An invocation in the times of difficulty
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
“None has the right to be worshipped but You. Glorified are You. Truly I have been of the wrong-doers.” (Al-Anbiya: 87)
An invocation to ask for home in jannah
رَبِّ ابْنِ لِي عِنْدَكَ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ
“My Lord, build for me a home with You in paradise.” (At-Tahrim: 11)
Repentance from sins
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
“O our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.” (Al-A’rah: 23)
Asking guidance to avoid wrong invocation
رَبِّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِي بِهِ عِلْمٌ وَإِلاَّ تَغْفِرْ لِي وَتَرْحَمْنِي أَكُن مِّنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
“O my Lord, I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on my, I will indeed be one of the losers.” (Hud: 47)
Asking forgiveness and mercy of Allah
رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
“O my Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy on us, for You are the Best of all who show mercy.” (Al-Mu’minun: 109)
Trust in Allah
حَسْبِيَ اللّهُ لا إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
“Allah is sufficient for me and none has the right to be worshipped but He. In Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.” (At-Taubah: 129)
