1. Supplication upon Leaving the House

Anas Ibn Malik -may Allah be pleased with him- narrated that Prophet Muhammad -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him-, ” If someone leave his house and recite,

((in the name of Allah, I trust myself to Allah, there is no power and strength but from Allah). It will be said to him, “You’ve given guidance, sustained, and protected” and the devils will stay away from him, and another devil say, “How will you harm someone who is given guidance, sustained, and protected (by Allah).” (Narrated by Abu Daud, and classed valid by Al Albani in his work, “Shahih Al Jami’”, no. 6419).

2. Supplication upon Stopping by at a place

Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqash -may Allah be pleased with him- said, “Kholah Bint Hakim As Sulaimiyya -may Allah be pleased with her- said, “I’ve heard that the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said, “‘Whoever stop by at a place, then say,

(I seek protection with the perfect words of Allah, from the evil that He created). Then nothing will harm him until he leave that place.” (Narrated by Muslim).

3. Supplication recited in the Morning

Uthman Ibn Affan -may Allah be pleased with him- said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said, “Whoever recite,

(In the name of Allaah with whose name nothing is harmed on earth nor in the heavens and He is The All-Seeing, The All-Knowing.’ [three times], nothing will harm him until morning come. And whoever recite it at morning three times, no sudden harm will afflict him until evening.” (Narrated by Abu Daud, and classed valid by Al Albani in “Shahih Abi Daud”, no. 5088)

4. Supplication before Sexual Intercourse

Abdullah Ibn Abbas -may Allah be pleased with them both- said, “The Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said, ‘If one of you desire to have sexual intercourse with his wife, and recite:

(In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep the devil away from us and keep the devil away from what you have blessed us with.’) and then they both destined to have children, the devil will not be able to harm it forever ‘. (Narrated by Bukhari)

5. Supplication to Protect the Children

Ibn Abbas -may Allah be pleased with them both- said, “Prophet Muhammad -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- always recited prayer of protection for Al Hasan and al Husain, he said, ‘Indeed, the father of both of you (Prophet Ibrahim) always recited prayer to protect Ismail and Ishaq (Isaac), and the recitation is:

(‘I commend you two to the protection of Allah’s perfect words from every devil, vermin, and every evil eye.’) (Narrated by Bukhari)

6. Reciting chapter Al Baqarah (The Cow)

Abu Umamah Al Bahily -may Allah be pleased with him said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said, ‘Recite chapter Al Baqarah, indeed, reciting it brings blessing (to you, -ed) and leaving it brings harm, and the wizard can’t defeat it.'” (Narrated by Muslim).

7. Reciting the Last two verses of Chapter Al Baqarah

Abu Mas’ud -may Allah be pleased with him- said, the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said, ‘Whoever recite the last two verses of chapter Al Baqarah at night, then Allah will guard him.” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).

8. Reciting the Aayat ul Kursy prior to sleep

Abu Huraira -may Allah be pleased with him- told, “The Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- once asked me, “What did your prisoner do last night?”. I replied, “O Messenger of Allah, he taught me several remembrances, of which Allah will bestow upon me benefits because of it, then I released him.” The Prophet asked, “What was that?”. I answered, “He told me: ‘If you want to go to your bed (sleep, -ed), then recite the aayat ul kursy from the beginning till the end :

{ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ }

And he told me, “There will always be a guard for you from Allah, and no devil will approach you until the morning arrived.” (Narrated by Bukhari)

9. Waking Up in the morning and Uttering Allah’s name, performing ablution, then performing the Fajr prayer

Abu Huraira -may Allah be pleased with him- narrated that the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said, “Satan will always tie three knots on the nape of one of you when he sleeps, then he strike every knot (to strengthen it) while saying, ‘The night is still long, go back to sleep.’ If the person wakes up, and utters Allah’s name, one knot will be untied. If he performs ablution, then one knot will be untied. And if he performs prayer, one knot will be untied, thus he welcomes his morning full with spirit and good-souled. If he doesn’t, then he will be ill-souled, and lazy.” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

10. Closing the Vessel

Jabir -may Allah be pleased with him- said that the Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said, “Close the vessel, tie the water drum, close the door, put off the lantern (lamp), because verily evils are not able to untie the tied water drum, open the closed door, and open the closed vessel. If you don’t have anything to close it, but by putting a twig on the vessel, and recite Allah’s name, you should do it.” (Narrated by Muslim).

In another narration, it is said,

“Close the vessel, and tie the water drum, because in every year there will be a night (day) in which a plague come. The plague will not pass an opened vessel, or untied water drum, until it enter it.” (Narrated by Muslim).

11. Eating seven palm-dates

Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqash -may Allah be pleased with him -said, “The Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said, “Whoever consume seven ajwa dates every morning, then none of the poison nor magic will harm him that day.” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).

To be continued, insha Allah….
